Taking a shower in an integral part of our lifestyle. Most of us get used to having a shower with warm or hot water as it’s more pleasant than to have a shower with cold water.
However, having a shower with the cold water or, referred to as a “James Bond Shower,” or a “Scottish Shower” has its surprising benefits as it decreases the temperature of a human down to freezing cold.
1. Immunity boost
First and foremost, cold water can improve human circulation by moving blood to surround our organs. Secondly, this can later assist in fighting against some other problems of the heart and skin. Getting blood circulating leads the arteries to more efficiently pump blood, therefore boosting our overall heart health. It can also lower blood pressure, clear blocked arteries, and improve our immune system, this is why many celebrities like Katharine Hepburn, Miranda Kerr (Victoria’s Secret) and others prefer this kind of showering.
2. Better skin
One of the most natural ways to have a good and smooth skin is cold showers. On the other side, when having a shower with hot water, our skin starts to dry out, so hot water lovers – watch out this. Cold water also tightens the cuticles and pores, which will prevent them from getting clogged. Particularly, cold water can “seal” the skin scalp and pores, as well as to stop the dirt from getting in.
We should remember, that constricting blood flow, cold water solely temporarily tightens our skin but doesn’t shrink pores. The same is related to your hair – having a cold shower makes your hair shine brighter, make it stronger and healthier.
3. Increases testosterone
During the 19th century, many scientists and people thought that cold water could extinguish a man’s flaming carnal desires. A ghastly device was even invented on this core principle.
However, they were quite away from the truth. Thrombosis Research Institute made a study and found that cold water showers actually was increasing testosterone level in men. Moreover, increased levels of testosterone also increased the strength and energy level in men. So if you wish to increase your testosterone, instead of exercising, lifting weights, eating protein or taking a vitamin D supplement, have a cold shower or just jump into a cold water.
